CBI submits FIR in fake currency notes case


KOCHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation  on Tuesday submitted the first information report (FIR) before the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in the  case related to the seizure of high-grade counterfeit currency notes to the tune of `2.4 lakh from Parassala last year.
Khamarul Islam, Mujib Rehman, Inamul Haq, Sheyful Haq, Rijahul Karim, Shakir Ali, Masum Alam and Rahul Amir of Malda in Harishchandrapura are the accused in the case.
The police had arrested the accused from a lodge in Thampanoor following a tip-off from Bengali construction workers.
The first information report pointed out that the counterfeit currency notes were printed in Pakistan and reached Bangladesh.
 Later the currency notes were smuggled to West Bengal, from where they reached Kerala through migrant labourers.
