Man gets life term for killing Naval Base staff


KOCHI: The Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court on Thursday sentenced Narendra Singh Bisthi, a native of Padhora in Uttarakhand, to life imprisonment for murdering a Naval Base staff.
A fine of Rs 5 lakh has also been imposed on the accused.  Sessions Judge K P Indira ruled that if Bisthi failed to pay the amount he will have to undergo further imprisonment for a period of three years. The incident took place on October 13, 2005, after a scuffle broke out between the accused and his friend Narendra Singh while under the influence of liquor.
Later, the accused poured kerosene over Narendra Singh’s body when he was asleep and set him on fire at the former’s house in Konthuruthy.
