Neyyattinkara by Election Results: Election campaign in full flow

Tuesday, May 29, 2012: With less than a week left for the Neyyattinkara by-election, political parties are gearing up for the final showdown by roping in their top leaders for the last leg of campaigning.
Defence Minister A.K. Antony will lead the campaign today with a series of road shows in the constituency spread across five panchayats and one municipality.
The CPI(M) is getting their star campaigner opposition leader V.S. Achuthanandan on May 30. He will be addressing in seven public meetings to boost the LDF campaign.
Political observers say it’s going to be an evenly fought battle with the BJP putting up a strong challenge to the Congress and CPI (M).
The LDF is in a defensive mode over the TPC murder and the controversial statement made by the Idukki district secretary M.M. Mani. The UDF which raised the pitch against the CPI (M)’s politics of murder hopes to get the support of the electorate on the issue.
