Scribe attack case: CBI may seek Interpol’s help


 Wednesday, May 24, 2012: CBI will seek the help of Interpol to trace the fourth accused Shafeeq in Unnithan attack case. He is beleived to have fled to Dubai with the help of a person from Kollam. A CBI team will leave for Dubai.
After exploring all possible measures, CBI will seek the help of Interpol if he is untraced here. As the bail for Shafeeq was given by the HC, the court should be intimated of the CBI move.
On Tuesday too, crime branch held a probe about his escape to Dubai. They reached Shafeeq’s home and confirmed he was in Dubai. Crime branch SP Sam Christy said during the previous probe that his relatives never revealed anything. The family has been directed to give all information regarding him.
At the same time it is suspected that some officials from crime branch are involved with his escape. Shafeeq was also asked to sign every week in a register but he failed to do so and some officers had given him permission to evade the rule.
In the HC, Shafeeq concealed the fact that he owns a passport. It is also learnt that a person from Kollam helped him flee to Dubai.
