Smart City: Crucial board meeting on June 9


Thursday, May 31, 2012: The meeting of the SmartCity board of directors will be held in Kochi on June 9. Final decisions on many crucial issues, including the selection of firms to construct the IT buildings, are expected to be taken at the meeting.
Tecom Investments, the promoters of the project, is learnt to have held discussions with some global giants based in India as well as abroad who have shown interest in associating themselves with SmartCity.
The board meeting will be held at the office-cum-sales pavilion of SmartCity after the inauguration of the building on the day. Tecom Investments has already completed the concept master plan of the project, which has been sent for the approval from the SEZ board. Once the approval is secured, the construction of IT buildings can be started.
If the SEZ board demands any modifications in the concept master plan, it will delay the project. After the meeting, the SmartCity authorities will expedite the promotional activities of the project, including the road shows, a source said.
The inaugural ceremony of the office-cum-sales pavilion will be attended by chief minister Oommen Chandy, industries and IT minister P K Kunhalikkutty, excise minister K Babu, works minister V K Ibrahimkunju and Tecom CEO Abdullatif Al Mulla.
