Three members of a burglary gang held


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Nemom Police have arrested three people alleged to be members of a burglary gang that has been active in the district.
 Santhosh of Kilimanoor, 20, Anil Kumar, 39, and Thankaraj, 39, both hailing from  Mottamood, were arrested by a police team led by Nemom Circle Inspector Anil Kumar under the instruction of Fort AC M Radhakrishnan Nair, from Vellayani late on Sunday night.  
According to the police, the three were spotted roaming in Vellayani junction in an autorickshaw during odd hours.   
When the trio were taken into custody and questioned, it was found out that the three were active members of a burglary gang and were involved in some thefts reported in the district.  
Nemom SI S Ajaya Kumar said that the gang used to locate potential targets by scouting the areas during day time and later in the night they conducted burglary. It was during one such journey that the three fell into the police trap.  Thankaraj is an accused in a murder case and numerous other theft cases.
The other two also have several cases pending against them at various stations in the district.  The police also said that they had recovered mobile phones and `24,000 in cash that were allegedly stolen from a mobile phone shop at Kilimanoor.   The three have been remanded to prison.
