KOZHIKODE: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party leader T P Chandrasekharan has nabbed two persons who allegedly manufactured the fake number plates used on the vehicle in which the goons travelled after and before the murder.
The police had seized the fake number plates on Friday. The team had earlier found that the fake number plates were used by the gang of murderers during the operation.
Meanwhile, police sources maintained that the SIT has received definite clues that indicate that members of two quotation gangs operating in Kannur and Kozhikode districts were behind the killing. The investigating officials continued raids in Chokli, Valayam and Nadapuram areas to nab the culprits on Saturday as well. Meanwhile, there were moves to attach the properties and bank accounts of the key accused Rafeek and Kodi Suni, said sources within the police.
The District Administration on Saturday extended the prohibition orders clamped in Onchiyam, Eramala, Azhiyoor and Chorode grama panchayats in the district.
It was on May 6 that the Collector issued prohibitory orders following the murder Chandrasekharan on May 4. The orders were issued under Section 72 (traffic regulation), Section 75 (power to prohibit mass drill), Section 78 (regulation to prevent violence) and Section 79 (regulation of public assemblies) of the Kerala Police Act. The orders ban bursting of crackers and carrying out fireworks in a manner that could distract the attention of public road users or cause danger to them. Holding any mass drill or training with arms or carrying of arms in any procession and organising demonstrations or assemblies are also prohibited.
